Cancelled: Entrepreneurship for Teens

This is a hybrid online and in-person course running 12 weeks.  The online component is a course from Venture Lab, a non-profit dedicated to entrepreneurial education for all youth, with a special emphasis on reaching girls. Dream Maker Creative is adding to this program by offering an in-person activity and discussion group that will meet twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays.

For the child that is always looking to make money through lemonade stands, lawn mowing for neighbors, or making and selling handmade items, this course will provide a foundation of skills that will help in their future entrepreneurial endeavors. It covers identifying problems and possible solutions, market research, prototyping, marketing, selling, pitching and more. But even children who have not shown this ambition will benefit from this course. The lessons and activities provide practice in critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. The in-person component helps with communication and collaboration with others. Both the online and in-person promote a growth mindset and STEAM education.

Your enrollment includes full access to the online/independent study course, plus 6 in-person classes at Dream Maker Creative. These will be held from 5:30p – 6:30p on 9/26, 10/10, 10/24, 11/14, 11/28 and 12/12. The in-person gatherings will expand on the material in the online course, so it’s expected that kids will come to class having completed the pre-work at home.
