Beginning Sewing for 6th – 10th Grade

Do you have a teen that is interested in sewing, but is not sure how to get started? In this 6-week class, we’ll introduce sewing machine usage along with hand stitching basics. We’ll also discuss fabric types, notions, and how to choose/read patterns. Participants will get to choose one or more projects to complete in class along with our guidance. Sample projects may include pillows, felt plushies, totebags, pajama pants, skirts or shorts, etc. Projects should be beginner focused. We’ll have fabric for small items and practice, but your student may wish to pick out some fabric from a store between weeks 1 to 2 (after we discuss suitable projects and what to buy in the first week of class). Please do not purchase ahead of week 1.
