If you love the sound of windchimes, you’ll love this fun DIY workshop. We will assemble and decorate a windchime featuring 4-6 aluminum tubes with wood pieces and weather resistant cord. Chimes measure half-inch diameter by 7-10 inch long with the complete height about 18-24 inches long. While creating a windchime “truly” from scratch requires wood working tools such as drills, saws, and reamers, we’re going to cheat a bit and start from commercial parts. This allows us to focus on creating a custom artsy piece that still sounds great, using paints, beads, wood pieces and charms.
You’ll learn how to string chimes plus learn about the parts – allowing you to repair a windchime on your own or upcycle to bring new life to an old chime. And we’ll talk briefly about the physics of wind chimes (ever so briefly … we’re here for the art, not the science!). And you’ll learn where to go if you want to dive in deeper to this hobby.
This workshop is for ages 12 to adult, but minors must attend with an adult.
