This class is perfect for bakers who have tried making 100% sourdough bread and want quicker, more flexible ways to use their starter. We will bake a mix of simple, delicious recipes using sourdough discard, including several mini loaves that will be prepped and baked during class. Students who already have a starter should bring it so we can evaluate its health and usability, and anyone without a starter will be provided with one to take home. While discard breads do not always have a strong sour flavor, the starter adds a pleasant tang, extra moisture, and improved digestibility. Throughout the class we will talk about how to maintain your starter, how to adapt recipes for your taste and schedule, and how to confidently bake flavorful everyday breads without the long fermentation process. This class does not cover the full artisan sourdough process – see our other workshops.
Please bring a jar of your starter if you have one.This workshop is for ages 12+, but under 16’s must attend with an adult. No observers – all participants must have a pre-paid ticket.
